The Faces Behind Overland Kitchen

Ever wonder who the real people are behind your favorite overland brands? Yes, we are real people, in fact we are Overland Kitchen customers ourselves. We’re a family of four who has been traveling North America full-time with our Expedition Kitchen for the last year. We loved the kitchen so much, that in February, 2023, we purchased the business.

Here’s the scoop: Chris happens to be a people person by nature which can allow for unexpected relationships to form. For example, when he considers purchasing a product, especially an overland product, he often ends up spending a good deal of time communicating questions and comments with the people behind the brands. The goal is a collaborative process to find the best solutions to the needs/wants we have as overlanders.

Usually, the end result is appreciative emails from Chris exhibiting photos with the product in use. This is how we came to know Alan Smith, the man behind Overland Kitchen and why, when he began to contemplate the next adventurous chapter of his life, he thought of us as potential candidates for taking a turn at the business.

We have been traveling on 4x4 trails full time in our Jeep with our two children for the past year. This has been a time to explore both the exterior world and the more mysterious landscape within ourselves. What we’ve discovered is the passion to continue exploring planet earth and to share the spirit of adventure with others. We are grateful and excited to be given this opportunity to continue bringing the brilliant Overland Kitchen designs to life and to new, far-reaching places.
